Also Announced: Inc.com Added as Judge & Sponsor and New Prizes including Round trip Southwest Airlines Tickets

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announces that less than two weeks remain for submissions to its Wharton Digital Press “Brilliant Mistakes” Contest which is offering prizes including round trip travel on Southwest Airlines, one week of Wharton Executive Education Coursework and public recognition of the winning entry. In a related development, the highly regarded entrepreneurship Web destination, Inc.com has joined the contest as Media Sponsor with an Inc editorial staff member the joining Wharton faculty including author Paul Schoemaker, PhD as a contest judge.

The “Brilliant Mistakes” Contest is inspired by Schoemaker’s new book, “Brilliant Mistakes: Finding Success on the Far Side of Failure” (Wharton Digital Press) in which he calls human errors “portals of discovery” that can help us “err our way to success.” The contest challenges managers, entrepreneurs and professionals to recognize a mis-step that led to unexpected opportunity. Examples from the book include Penicillin, the light bulb and the Harry Potter book series– they each initially seemed like the result of wasted effort.

Submissions to the “Brilliant Mistakes” Contest are due by February 1, 2012 and can be made by visiting the contest site: http://wdp.wharton.upenn.edu/brilliant-mistakes-contest/. Entries should not exceed 300 words and should explain the positive result of the “mistake” and the significance of the subsequent changes.
